We are all only one person but that shouldn't ever stop us

Updated: Mar 9, 2022

I have heard the phrase "but I am only one person" often, in situations when something we wish to do seems so much bigger than us.

Something that for me always comes to mind is, we are all only one person, but that doesn't mean we can't make a difference. Greta Thunberg is only one person, Martin Luther, Leonardo Da Vinci, I could write pages about just one person, but that one person has had a huge impact on our world, on our lives.

One of the things that I truly believe we don't realise is that, every action we take or not has an impact. Not just on our lives but on the lives of all the people we are in contact with. Ok, so you might think I only have a small number of people I am in touch with on a regular basis. This may be true, but that one person you connected with today also connected with another person, or two or more. You see every choice we make, every decision, every connection we have, even ones we think are relatively small has an impact on another person. And that impact spreads much further than we know. I like to call it the ripple effect because before you know it, your one kind gesture has spread across the world.

I have written a number of blog posts and poems over the years and one thing that has always stayed with me is a message I got from a lovely lady in California. She randomly wrote to me to say whenever I read a poem from you it always makes my day better, it makes me smile, thank you for that. I don't know the ripple effect that came from that one lady, I don't know how many people she interacted with after reading a poem I had written. What I do know is that I am just one person and if I can spread a little joy, make one positive change in someone's life that can affect so many more people so can you.

In the current times, especially with the current situation in Ukraine, you might think anything you can do will not make much of a difference, but I promise it will and more than you will ever know.

Here is a link to a cause I already support because they have already been doing amazing work around the world and right now in Ukraine.

Love, Cate x
